Our IOV offers an exciting tour program for groups that is guaranteed to educate and entertain children of all ages.
Due to the popularity of our program, reservations are required.  Reserve early to get the day and time you want! (If your group is less than 10 people, please feel free to come in unannounced during our regular Insectarium hours. We cannot, however, guarantee an Insectarium interpreter in this case.)

FAQ:
How long does a tour last?
IOV tours are generally an hour and a half long. If your group wishes to shop in our gift shop, please be aware that this will require extra time, and your driver should be notified.

What does a tour consist of?
The tour is given in three segments. Your interpreter will take you through the following three portions of the tour, in no particular order (The schedule is made up each day on a rotating-basis. The IOV can accommodate requests as to scheduling procedures).

1) Insect Film: Your group will watch an insect film in our theaterette. The movie will be chosen according to your group's age and special needs. It is also during this time that groups are asked to eat their lunch. We do not provide any food here at the Insectarium.

2) IOV Displays: Your educator will gather the children around the mounted displays. There will be an informative presentation, in which the children will learn the basic science of an insect. There will be supervised exploring time for the children.  The main building is where the majority of our living exhibits are kept including our live giant cockroach display, our working honey-bee hive, stick insects, termites, three species of ants, spiders and our live scorpions. We have insects from all around Victoria - some of them quite exotic. Before the children have a chance to explore, though, the interpreter will give a small presentation using live specimens, and the children will be offered a chance to pet some live animals.

3) River Walk: The IOV is set in grounds adjacent to the Campaspe River and a River Walk can be taken through the property and along the river.  The walk features insects in their natural environment.
