The Insectarium’s collections are an important and valuable reference source which is currently being used to help monitor environmental disturbance in areas of central Victoria and to build a profile of native bee populations in Victoria for research being carried out by the University of Adelaide.

In addition many species in the collections are unknown to science and are yet to undergo taxonomic classification in order to receive zoological names.
