These exhibits include Australian scorpions of several species which are housed on our unique ‘open table’ enclosure designed to allow close up observation by our visitors and students.  Each day our visitors are presented with a close up of these fabulous creatures and are encouraged to observe the animals adaptations over the past 400 million years. 


The Insectarium also displays several species of our well known ants.  The enclosures displays the colonies so that the young may be seen as they are attended to by the workers during the day.  Ants are one of the most primitive living animals on the planet and help us understand how social behaviour may have developed in the social insects that we see today.  As well the Insectarium has a number of stick insects on display...
