About Us

The Insectarium of Victoria team is made up of a group of dedicated individuals that commonly share a passion towards the education and conservation of Australias invertebrate fauna.

It is this commitment that drives our staff to freely share their knowledge with all students and visitors that visit the centre each day. Some of us are teachers, scientists, conservationists, ecologists or business leaders and we all share a deep concern for the future of the world in which we live. It is hoped that our message of the importance of these particular animals continues to assist our overall aims now and into the future.

The Insectarium Staff are there to:
  • provide you with both an enjoyable and rewarding educational experience
  • share with you the wonders of the invertebrate world
  • explain how invertebrates play a vital role in maintaining the world’s ecological balance
  • provide an important and specialised educational resource
  • carry out research into the biology of insects and other related invertebrates
  • study the contribution insects and invertebrates have made to the cultural development of the state from aboriginal times to the present day
  • create and provide important resources for the community by maintaining an important collection of displays and data that grows each year
